On April 26, 1986, the world’s worst nuclear accident took place at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant near the city of Pripyat in northern Ukraine. On April 29 and 30, 2021, two virtual events examining Chernobyl’s fallout, as still felt today, will occur:

An associated Carsey-Wolf Center virtual discussion of the award-winning documentary “The Babushkas of Chernobyl,” with Director Holly Morris, will take place on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 4:00pm (Pacific Time, US & Canada), before which registered participants may pre-screen the film.

The interdisciplinary virtual conference “Fallout: Chernobyl and the Ecology of Disaster" will take place on Friday, April 30, 2021, from 9:00am to 4:00pm (Pacific Time, US & Canada), when an international slate of speakers representing a variety of disciplines will share their insights on the 35th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.
